SN Author - Bambers2

Before I had even joined the fandom, myself, my best friend told me that I had to read the work of an author by the name of Bambers2. When I finally made my way to the profile of this talented author, I found a smorgasbord of brilliantly written tales.

Easily one of the most talented writers of any fandom, Bambers' writing brilliantly covers the entire spectrum of genres: gen, angst, humor, suspense - even the occasional bit of romance. I highly recommend her tale So Not Following the Yellow Brick Road and her AU series (after the conclusion of season 3) Angels and Demons.

Few people possess the talent of Bambers2 - and I'm not necessarily speaking only of fanfic writers. Her stories are truly a must-read for Supernatural fans everywhere.

SN Fic - Sneeze

It started with a sneeze. Then another. And another. And... well, let's just say that this delightful drabble collection has been affectionately dubbed Snot Without Plot (SWP) by the author, Mad Server.

Now, with more than 30 hilarious little... well,
sneezes, mostly on the part of Dean, but some good contributions from Sam, these drabbles never fail to bring a smile to my face. (Along with the more-than-occasional 'Ew.... Gross!') So, give 'em a read - and be sure to bring some tissues!

Fanvidder: Samus McAslan

While on the dGeek forum (on David Hewlett's website for his movie A Dog's Breakfast), I made the acquaintance of one Samus McAslan. She writes a bit of fanfiction, but her main specialty is fanvideos - which she does for multiple fandoms, including Stargate Atlantis, Harry Potter, and I do believe I saw a couple Star Trek ones amidst several others.

With a unique talent for matching the scenes to the lyrics, Samus is certainly one of the most talented vidmakers on the web. Below are a few of my favorites and a link to her livejournal where the rest of her vids can be found.

Cats Fic - A Passion of Loneliness

Two or three years back, likely during the last time I was writing Cats fanfiction, I came across an supportive fellow author by the name of Aevany Storm. As I do with many who review my own fanfiction, I read many of hers, among which I found a story I especially loved.

Exotica, the young cat ever on the fringes of Jellicle life, has long grown accustomed to being alone. In fact, it has become a passion, this loneliness, something to which she tenaciously clings. When Macavity defects, after swearing revenge against the tribe, Exotica follows him, for reasons all her own - this is her story...

While the author of this tale has since changed her name to Maudey,
A Passion of Loneliness remains, in my mind, a lovely, bittersweet tale well-worthy of its place as this week's Fandom Pick.

SG-1 Fic - This Cannot Be Happening

A member of SG-1 steps through the Stargate, her arms wrapped protectively around a young boy... Oh, did I happen to mention that the major in question was already on base and had neither a tan nor that long hair? But the arrival of the second Samantha Carter and her son is only the beginning, as Sam soon finds herself stranded in the other Carter's reality!

Cleverly utilizing those problematic Quantum Mirrors and a cast of lovable alternate characters that are almost-but-not-quite like our own,
This Cannot Be Happening is easily one of my most favorite Sam/Jack fics to date.

UPDATE!

Needless to say, it would seem my little project flopped when I moved... four months ago. *grimaces* Here's to giving it another go, with one minor change.

I have returned to my earliest fandom, Cats, so there may be some of those stories included in future picks, as well. In fact, Fandom Picks is hereby a growing collection of superb fics from all fandoms!

Again, I hope any who make their way here will feel free to send me fic suggestions, as I really want to expand my reading horizons as well as challenge you to do the same. It can be anything, and as long as it's a fandom to which I subscribe, I will eventually give it a gander! Promise!

Anyhow, here's me shutting up - I present to you! The return of Fandom Picks!

SN Fic - A Supernatural Day

This light-hearted one shot with our boys was written by my best friend Ebbtide. It never fails to make me smile, regardless of how often I read it, so it's only natural that I share it here.

SG-1 Fic - Steadfast

It would seem that Mondays have become "Fandom Pick Monday", huh? Though, it wasn't necessarily intended, it'll work for now, especially since I'm not entirely sure how much internet access I will have over the next month or so.

This next pick is one that I absolutely fell in love with. A story of unrequited love and devotion from a POV that I, myself, never would have considered. It's short and sweet - and a must read for Daniel lovers anywhere.

SN Fic - Just Your Average Hunt

I struggled a bit with what I should choose for this first post, but after a bit, I finally consulted my favorites list and chose this lovely one shot by a friend of mine who was so kind as to highlight me, of all people, as the Fanfic Writer of the Week on her Podcast recently. Since I've a love for humor, I thought this darling little fic was perfect for the first Pick.

So, I got to thinking...

... and whilst thinking, I said to myself, "There is so much great fan-work out there, but so few recognized." Thus, this blog.

I guess you can call it a sort of compilation of favorites and highly recommended pieces, but I have seen so many great authors and artists and stories go completely unrecognized that I wanted to do something about it, no matter how small. Naturally, starting out it will mostly be that which I myself have read or encountered, but I'm hoping over time that I can get feedback from other fans out there, hopefully have you recommend stuff that you've enjoyed over the years.

For now, the fandoms of focus will be the three that I, myself, participate in. Namely: Supernatural, Stargate: SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis. I hope to highlight not only authors, but individual stories and series, along with fanvids and art, as well. You will, no doubt, see some names that you are familiar with, but with time, I hope to help introduce you to some that you haven't seen before.

Anyhow, enough of my rambling, on to the picks!
